User Pain Points

Poor time estimation, paired with irregular scheduling practices, meant that current to-do lists were falling short.

The pain points in the existing model were plentiful. 47% of people only assessed their calendar weekly on Sunday night, and 31% of people mentally moved things around on their calendar.

This was compounded with poor time estimation:

“I often underestimate how long something will take me, and that cascades into the rest of my work.”

“Things come up during the day or week and kind of ruins my schedule, which is why I usually don’t do to-do lists”

A new model

I defined the parameters for the various entities within the app to inform the automation logic.

Building the solution was a fascinating challenge, it involved defining the parameters of the various entities within the app. This includes things such as time left, recurring v. single time tasks, task vs. calendar item etc. These considerations helped inform the automation logic.

Priority Framework
A key component in the app would be the priority system. The priority rating informs the precedence one task takes over another, with non-negotiables being fixed tasks i.e. appointments or interviews.
