Solution
Maia can help reduce the cognitive load that’s caused by messy schedules.
Maia is a machine-learning* mobile scheduling application that works with users to help intelligently, schedule, reschedule and find time in their calendar. It uses a chatbot interface to allow users to quickly and easily update common schedule considerations such as: how long things are taking, whether they need more time, and when do they have free time.
By A. getting these thoughts recorded, and B. reducing the active thinking users need to do about their schedule we can help reduce the cognitive load that’s caused by messy schedules.
*as this was our first foray into machine learning, some features that are proposed are theoretical and would require further vetting by domain experts.
My Role & Our Process
As Maia was the result of a hectic 54-hour Startup Weekend*, roles were often a bit fluid. In addition to the following responsibilities, I helped out with the business model, marketing plan and building our pitch deck.
Guerilla Research
Conducted conversations with 5 SMBOs and surveyed 50 potential users.
Prototyping & User Testing
Built out user flow, app map, and prototype which we tested with 5 users.
UI Design
Articulated visual & motion design consistent throughout the app
Branding
Designed brand assets to put the finishing touches on our “startup”
*Although the concept was designed and pitched in 54 hours, the visual design was revised and updated over the course of a week in late 2018.
