Designing at Spark

What is Spark

Sitting at the intersection of real estate and technology Spark is reshaping the way new development real estate is marketed and sold.

From organizing marketing campaigns to managing inventory to facilitating the contract writing process, the Spark platform touches on all facets of the sales process.

My Experience

I drove the product design process from ideation to execution.

I joined the team during the summer of 2019 as the 2nd designer and the first design team hire. With a small 10 person technology team we work quickly and in tandem with our clients to continually optimize our product for their needs.

During my time at Spark, I worked on a breadth of design tasks - from brand and marketing work to compiling a design system. I drove the product design process from ideation to execution, working in lockstep with the development team. From researching user needs, to defining specs and building high fidelity prototypes that communicate solutions to complex problems.

Marketing Spend

Tracking and budgeting for real estate marketing campaigns.

Spark is a marketing tool but the way users could track campaigns was broken.

Problem:
Marketing spend suffered greatly from feature bloat and desperately needed design direction.

Solution:
A UX overhaul of “marketing spend” that was more streamline, usable and in line with Spark’s UI language.

Stepped Contract Process

Creating a more refined contract writing process.

The contract writing process for a real estate is complex and well-established.

Problem:
With multiple stakeholders writing contracts and requirements varying between developers* a one size fits all approach did not work.

Solution:
A simple “stepped contract process” that can be customized for a variety of markets and developers. Allowing sales teams to quickly write contracts and sell units.

Email Sync

Integrating email functionality into the Spark platform.

Selling real estate is a communication intensive process. But users could not communicate with buyers from the app.

Problem:
Without email our users had to jump between platforms to conduct sales interactions leading to a fragmented experience.

Solution:
We built an entire email platform within Spark, and created more value by using the data at our disposal to give users more value when writing emails.
